Cynthia Bonneau-Green for Commissioner

Elect Cynthia Bonneau-Green for Commissioner Ferry County District 2

Thank You For Your Vote!

The final vote count was held on Aug 31. To recap: first it seemed that I'd won a place on the ballot by two votes; then it looked like I might have lost by two votes (with 10 left to count). Now, it appears that I am one vote ahead and on the ballot for the general election! On Friday, September 3, beginning at 10:00 a.m., there will be an automatic recount. If I've won the recount, we'll learn the outcome around 1:00 p.m. If there's a tie, a coin toss will be held at 2:30 p.m. Joe Bond will call the coin toss, because his name appears before mine on the ballot.

I very much appreciate the support and enthusiasm you continue to give me. I am really, really hopeful that I'll soon be setting up my booth at the fair, because I have 500 cute little cowboy-hat fans that say "Vote Cynthia" on them!

Got Roads?

The following was taken from the Ferry County Management and Organizational Review, Dated October 2005. Conducted by the State of Washington, Department of Community, Trade and Economic Development. (The “Notes” have been added to include current figures.)

“Diversion of Road Funds Has Resulted In 25% of the Paved Road System Needing Replacement: The County has at least an eighteen-year history (Note: this was in 2004 – we currently have a nearly 24 year history) of diverting Road Fund property taxes to the Current Expense fund. Ferry County proportionately diverts more road taxes than any other county in the state. One of the results has been significant deterioration in the county’s paved road network. In 2004, 25% of the county’s paved road system needed to be replaced because it can no longer be repaired. Adjacent counties with similar severe weather conditions, who do not divert Road Fund property taxes, need to replace from zero to 1.6% of their road system. In order to restore funding to the Road Fund the Current Expense fund would have to reduce or replace its largest revenue. More closely following the practice of other counties in the state that divert road tax, Ferry County would need to reduce the amount of diverted road tax by $665,000 to $514,000 per year.” (Note: the 2010 budget shows a diversion of $584,364.)

One of the primary jobs of your county commissioner is to protect your PRIVATE PROPERTY VALUE by maintaining county roads and infrastructure.

To attract jobs, maintain your property value and have a healthy community we need good roads:

  • Roads for ore trucks and logging trucks.
  • Roads that an ambulance can drive on without damaging sensitive equipment.
  • Roads for law enforcement and school buses.

As your county commissioner I promise to make roads a priority. I can’t promise that we will no longer divert road funds — which we have done for nearly 24 years — but I will promise that I will fight hard to ensure that every dollar taken from roads will only go towards things truly important to the people of Ferry County.

You work hard for every dollar you pay in taxes. I will work just as hard to make sure those dollars are spent wisely.

My background is finance and business.

I am a fiscal conservative.

“Independent Thinking ...Responsible Government”

We don't have to be economic victims - we have the people, resources and know-how to create jobs.

We can move forward with a biofuels facility and a small wood products manufacturing component that could employ up to 35 people AND provide a market for local timber property owners and haulers.

We can explore ideas like a community golf course tied to a sewage treatment facility which can be an employer for our young people in the summer.

We can work with our great hospital to help it expand programs and facilities to serve this community and our growing population of older citizens.

We can accomplish so much when we work together. As your county commissioner, I will work hard to bring jobs to Ferry County.
